How to get around
Once you’ve arrived safely in Wollongong, there are a number of easy and affordable transport options to get you from A to B.
Free Gong Shuttle Bus
Wollongong’s free (yes we said FREE!) Gong Shuttle Bus makes it easy to get around the Wollongong’s CBD.
The service operates in both directions on a loop from Wollongong Station to Wollongong University via Wollongong Hospital, Burelli Street and the Innovation Campus. Please refer to the blue line on the map for the Shuttle’s exact route and scheduled stops.
On weekdays the Shuttle operates every 10 minutes between 7am and 6pm and every 20 minutes from 6pm to 10pm.
On weekends the Shuttle operates every 20 minutes between 8am and 6pm. The route numbers for the Gong Shuttle are 55A and 55C.
For more information about the Gong Shuttle Bus visit Premier Illawarra.
Please note: From 1 February 2021, there will be a route and bus stop change to the Gong Shuttle.
Route 55C (clockwise loop) will run along Market Street instead of Smith Street. This service will no longer turn right into Smith Street but into Market Street instead, before turning left into Corrimal Street.
One bus stop on Corrimal Street will be moved 120m to the south side of Market Street. The new bus stop will be located outside Primavera Flowers. Please click here to view a map of the change.
