Great Outdoors | Destination Wollongong

In Wollongong, experiencing nature is as easy as stepping outside. Bordered by stunning native bush, sparkling ocean, and golden beaches, we really do make the outdoors great!

There are plenty of spots to get your bearings and take in the views – from Bald Hill in the north, Bulli Tops (home to the Southern Gateway Centre and Altitude 1148 cafe) and Mt Keira Summit Park atop the escarpment, or historic Hill 60 in Port Kembla. But perhaps the ultimate view is from 15,000 feet – tandem skydiving with Skydive Australia to land beachside in the heart of the city! Speaking of beaches, this magic stretch of the coast has dozens of stunning patrolled beaches, surf breaks, and outdoor pools. In summer, we celebrate this vibe with events including Aquathon and Tribal Clash, while all year round you can enjoy the region’s cycleways, golf courses and mountain bike tracks.

If your boots are made for walking, you’ll froth at the many bushwalking routes dotted along the length of the escarpment – from Macquarie Pass to the Royal National Park and from steep (Sublime Point track) to sedate (Maddens Track). Nearer to sea level, the Coast Track and Grand Pacific Walk provide contrasting options.

It’s all quite simple really. Whether you’re exploring the coast, the escarpment, or somewhere in between, a new adventure in the great outdoors is always just around the corner.
