EV Charging Stations in Wollongong & the Illawarra

Driving electric in Wollongong and the Illawarra has never been easier. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor cruising down the Grand Pacific Drive, you’ll find a growing network of convenient EV charging stations across the region.

From coastal towns to the city centre, charging your electric vehicle is simple, so you can spend more time exploring and less time worrying about power.

Kerbside electric vehicle (EV) chargers have been installed at five convenient locations in Wollongong, Austinmer and Thirroul.

The initiative is a pilot partnership between Wollongong City Council, EVX Australia and Endeavour Energy.

The chargers are mounted on existing power poles, making them cost-effective and efficient to install. This design also ensures there is no footprint on public land or green space.

While these are the first kerbside EV charging stations installed in our city, they join two public fast chargers at Stewart Street East car park in Wollongong. There are 18 charging locations (as of December 2023) across the Wollongong City Council area.
