Virginia Taylor and Timothy Kain – The Medium is the Magic

The magical combination of flute and guitar.

Two of Australia’s master musicians traverse an exciting repertoire from around the world in a concert of music from Argentina, Australia, Colombia, England and Ireland. The concert will include a new work, commissioned by the duo, from Robert Davidson.

Virginia Taylor and Timothy Kain have toured for Musica Viva, the ABC and more over the last 20 years and have recorded for ABC Classics, Move and Tall Poppies.

Virginia is recognised internationally as a leading pedagogue, flute performer and musician. As an orchestral musician, Virginia performed as Principal Flute with the Australian Chamber Orchestra for over 10 years, as well having been guest principal flute with many of the major symphony orchestras within Australia and overseas.

Timothy Kain was initially inspired to play the guitar by popular music and flamenco. Tim’s performing and teaching activities have since taken him all over the world, building an international reputation both as a soloist and chamber musician. A major focus of Tim’s musical activities has been a long-standing interest and involvement in Australian music.
