The Music Lounge and Wollongong Conservatorium of Music present Garfish.
Hypnotic reggae beats and gritty rhythms.
Garfish is the brain child of local boy, now Italy based trumpet player Nick Garbett (The Vampires, The Strides).
Their music is a dedicated meditation on the instrumental style pioneered by old world Jamaican masters such as Sly and Robbie, Tommy McCook, Ernest Ranglin and The Skatalites, where jazz language meets the Afro Caribbean rhythms of Kingston.
Garfish has taken this sound to a new level in Australia, featuring some of Sydney’s most creative and groovy musicians stretching out over hypnotic reggae beats with a powerful three-piece horn section carrying melodies you’ll be whistling for days. You can sit back and take in the improvisational prowess on display in this all star lineup or get up and get your groove on as their gritty rhythms transport you to a smoky Caribbean dancehall.
Either way you’ll leave with a smile!
